Gas Appliance Servicing

It is highly suggested that you get all of the gas appliances in your home serviced at least once each year to ensure that they continue to function in a safe manner.

This is true not only for gas water heaters and gas fireplaces, but also for gas stoves and ovens.

If you are a landlord, it is also required by law that such equipment be checked annually; this could be a good time to perform a comprehensive service on all of them to ensure that they are in good working order.

Gas Appliance Installation

You will require a Gas Safe registered engineer to connect a new gas appliance to your gas supply, such as a gas oven or range cooker with a gas hob. That’s where we come in. We have installed gas appliances for more than 30 years, and our reputation for working fast and competently in Lambeth and throughout South London is unmatched.

We are also able to provide guidance on the gas appliance that is best suited for your house, as well as assistance in selecting the ideal replacement for an already installed device.

FAQ

What dangers do faulty gas appliances pose?

There are three primary dangers associated with having a faulty gas appliance in the home:

Gas leaks –

There is a risk of fire or explosion if gas leaks. A call to 999 should be made promptly if you suspect the presence of gas. Our Gas Safe registered engineers will check for leaks by visually inspecting the piping and performing a tightness test as part of a gas safety examination.

Fires and explosions –

Appliances that are designed to burn gas safely do so in a contained manner; however, if an appliance or section of pipe is defective, gas may leak and be ignited.

Carbon monoxide poisoning –

Because it has no discernible form, carbon monoxide (CO) gas can be extremely dangerous.
In addition to having an annual gas safety check performed, you should also have your gas pipes inspected. In addition, it is required by law that landlords keep the plumbing in working order.

What is a gas safety check?

Only a Gas Safe registered engineer should do a gas safety check; this expert will test your gas appliances to determine whether they are safe to use in your home.

An appliance’s safety is ensured by a gas safety check if:

It is accurately set and modified to ensure that the gas burns properly.
It is physically sound, firmly installed, and has a good connection to the gas pipes.
It is appropriate for the space it is located in

Recognise the warning signs

You should immediately have your gas appliance serviced if you see any of the following:

Your appliance is malfunctioning.
Instead of a sharp blue flame, it generates a floppy yellow flame.
The pilot light on the boiler keeps going out.
Discoloration or spotting on or near the home appliance
An increase in the amount of condensation found within the windows

This is not to mean that you should wait for these symptoms to manifest before scheduling an appliance service; instead, consult the manufacturer’s instructions for your gas appliances to learn how frequently a service is advised. Unless our Gas Safe registered engineer advises differently, we would advise a yearly service if you don’t have access to these. While an annual gas safety check will ensure that your gas appliances are operating as they should, if you observe any of the warning indications that an appliance is unsafe, you’ll require at least an appliance service from one of a our Gas Safe trained engineers.

What does it entail to service a gas appliance?

While a standard gas safety inspection covers the same ground as an appliance service, your engineer will also perform any additional tests required by the appliance’s manual. One or more of these might be:

To make sure the appliance is burning gas safely, analysis of the combustion exhaust gases is performed.
An examination of the state of the appliance, including any heat or distress signals, the efficiency of the seals and gaskets, and the cleanliness of the heat exchangers

It’s important to note that depending on the kind and brand of the appliance, our Gas Safe engineer may need to do extra or alternative examinations. A gas boiler safety check or service, for instance, can differ from a gas stove safety check or service.

All Gas Safe registered engineers will adhere to the Gas Industry Dangerous Situations Procedure when evaluating an unsafe gas equipment (GIUSP).
